On a basic level it really is that easy. When I choose running headphones I care less about style and hifi sound than being able to put them on and forgetting they are there.
Having used several types, the headsets that I personally prefer best for running are the ones that hook over the ear. My earbuds stay where I want them while i jump around. My sports bluetooth headphones have loops that go around the ear and anchor everything in place. They offer a good hearing experience because the tiny loudspeaker sits firmly in my ear where I want.
Headsets with ear hooks are also often sweat resistant which is a bonus.

How to choose a running headset
When asking what the best headset for jogging might be, the simplest answer is: those that you can use and forget you are wearing them.
The biggest problem with active sports and headphones is overcoming discomfort from chafing, from loose fit and from sweat crystals damaging your earphones. Base your choice more on comfort and functionality rather than on audio specs. Save the hifi headsets for calmer activities.
When buying a set that you will use while running (and doing other sports) you should consider the following requirements in order of importance:
1) The primary thing you need to focus on when choosing an earphone for use while running: they have to stay put while you bounce around!
2)The second thing to keep in mind is that running and sweat go hand in hand. Buy a running headset that can handle moisture.
3) Third, and last, pick on based on sound quality. Seriously, it matter less how the sound quality is if your earplugs keep falling out. On top of that, your body motion will level out the good, the bad, and the ugly sounds. As long as it isn't a toy you will be ok with almost any sound quality.
Running and hearing risks
Running in an urban environment can be dangerous and closing off environmental awareness puts you at risk.
I therefore do not recommend using cup type headphones that cover the ear while running because these suppress environmental sounds almost completely.
